Water, water everywhere...

So everyone can drink!

Humanity First USA's Water for Life program has brought clean drinking water to 2.55 million people in communities that need it most. Globally, HF has reached nearly 5.5 million people with clean water.

Extreme heat has reached every part of our country already this summer. Most of us have eagerly reached for chilled water from stores and stalls or have refilled our glasses with ice and cold water right at home. We need it and are incredibly fortunate to have clean, safe water close at hand.

But Humanity First works with communities where water does not flow to individual homes, nor even to the town or village. Mothers and children, primarily girls, bear the primary burden to fetch water from wells and hand pumps. Each trip fetches only what they can physically carry in heavy jerry cans. Women may trek as much as 6 km taking upwards of an hour for a single trip, according to studies by multilateral organizations.

This youth carrying water in Indonesia is from the region where Humanity First USA supported Humanity First Indonesia to dig four brand new wells for clean water last year. Children now have water much closer to home.

A young person has their back to the camera as they walk amongst trees and plants carrying one jug of water in each hand and a third balanced on their head.

Humanity First offers clean drinking water solutions:

  • Installation, rehabilitation and refurbishment of hand pumps
  • Digging deep water wells
  • Solar powered water distribution systems
  • Emergency response water treatment or supplies

As you try to beat the heat, help us bring clean drinking water to communities that need it most.

There are two ways to give clean water this summer: donate directly or join the Walk Run Bike Across the Globe for Humanity (or both!)

Sign Up Today!

From August 30th to September 8th, Humanity First USA needs you to help us reach our 20th anniversary goal to walk, run, and bike 24,900 miles around the earth.

We aim to bring clean water to 25 communities, give 90,000 meals to hungry people, and grant 500 people the Gift of Sight through cataract surgeries.

Sign yourself up, find or create your team, and bring 2 friends to join you so that we can grow the HF family because making miles matter is more fun together.

Where else is HF this summer?

The Humanity First Student Division is preparing for the annual HFSD Leadership Summit. From August 9-11 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, students will learn from each other and from experts how to grow their HFSO, find meaningful service opportunities, and learn disaster response techniques. The Summit builds bonds across HF Student Organizations from different states. This collaboration spreads ideas and strengthens initiatives like multi-school Gift of Health missions.
