The Education Project Summer

Program in Toledo

The Education Project - our student-led virtual tutoring and mentoring program for underserved youth in grades K-12 - is educating students through a one-month summer program in Toledo, Ohio. The program is organized with our year-round TEP partner, Keyser Elementary School, and received a grant from the City of Toledo.

30 students from grades K-8 are getting extra academic intervention and mentorship from virtual 1:1 tutors and in-person support. Students work IXL 1-on-1 with their tutor utilizing the IXL Learning platform and then continue with workbook practice. Two leaders within the University of Toledo Humanity First Student Organization, Ayesha Minhas and Ben Szymanski, are with the students in person at Keyser Elementary to provide extra coaching and assistance. The younger kids especially love to work with these two older role models.

We’re also providing lunch for free every day through the local Connecting Kids to Meals program!
