February is American Heart Month and the Howard County Local Health Improvement Coalition (HCLHIC) is encouraging members to check out the resources and information in the Health Action Item on our Chronic Disease page.

According to the American Heart Association, "women in the United States are experiencing unacceptable and avoidable heart-related illness and death, and nearly half of U.S. women do not recognize that heart disease is the leading cause of death for women."

Coalition members are asked to check out and share the Heart Month resources to help protect our hearts.
The Howard County Health Department, in collaboration with the Howard County Office on Aging and Independence and the Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, is pleased to offer the FREE Spanish Living Well with Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSMP) classes with lunch.

Participants will learn about the tools needed to control blood sugar, live healthier, and earn prizes. Coalition members are asked to share the following details widely:

The Howard County Health Department is pleased to support the 3rd Annual Light the Night 5K that raises awareness for suicide and suicide prevention resources in our community.

The event will serve as a county-wide acknowledgment that we support and care for those impacted by suicide.
