Honouring our connection with water

Early June is the time to celebrate World Ocean Day, when people and communities around the world engage in collective actions to create a better future with an abundant ocean and stable climate.

In this newsletter, we honour our connection with water — the ocean, rivers and other watercourses — and introduce our new trilogy, ‘How well do we know water?' Hosted by Pete Yeo, this series will explore our relationship with this fundamental presence in our world.

We also invite you to take a journey into the rich Resurgence archive, including a featured article by Chris Smith highlighting the essential role of rivers and water in sustaining life amid climate change.

The divinity of water: Veda Austin

Tuesday 18 June • 8.30—9pm* BST • Zoom

The first of three speakers in our trilogy of talks on water, Veda Austin is a water researcher, public speaker, mother, artist and author. She has dedicated the last 10 years to observing and photographing the life of water.

She believes that water is fluid intelligence, observing itself through every living organism on the planet and in the universe. Her talk focuses on water in its ‘state of creation’, the space between liquid and ice.

It is via Veda's remarkable crystallographic photos that water reveals its awareness, not only of creation, but also of thought and intention,

through imagery.

* Please note the later time of this talk, due to the speaker's location.

The Living Language of Water

by Veda Austin

Through macroscopic photography and a groundbreaking new technique, researcher Veda Austin allows us to view water as an intelligent force with the power to respond to human consciousness in ways never before thought possible.

Focusing on the stage between liquid and ice, Veda has spent the last eight years photographing water in a state of 'creation'.

Her incredible results suggest that water is intentionally communicating through artistic, intelligent design.

Guardians of the ocean

by Sam Bleakley, Issue 255, Jul/Aug 2009

Sam Bleakley explores the intimate and intuitive relationship

that surfers have with the ocean.
