Teaching Customer Service Excellence And Etiquette Savvy

Hello Arden,

I hope you had a spirited Fourth of July. Usually in Seattle we look forward to July 5 because that’s typically when our summer starts. But we’ve had an exceptionally lovely season with perfect mid 70-degree days (except for the last few mid 80s days) and cool evenings. I realize this is not true for much of the U.S. and I hope a pool, body of water and good air conditioning are possible for those of you who are sweltering.

Perhaps this will make you more comfortable. Imagine fall weather, trees filled with colorful autumn leaves and etiquette classes to get you and your kiddos ready for the holidays. Yes, indeed, fall manners classes for adults, teens and kids have been posted.

In the meantime, a few spaces have opened up for the Essential Skills for Teens for Social and Professional Success class on July 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, Seattle. Register today.

As usual, helpful etiquette tips are below in Etiquette Quick Tips including how to easily help a sick friend.

Etiquette Quick Tips

  • Not a cook but want to help an ill friend? Send a text or email with a link to a restaurant or food delivery app gift card, such as UberEATS or DoorDash. Your friend will be thrilled they can get a delicious meal delivered to their door on you.

  • If you’re attending a funeral or celebration of life, it’s not necessary to wear black. Keep your attire low-key, and avoid wearing big prints, anything flashy or revealing.

  • Never grip a fork in your fist. Also, cut your food so that it’s small enough to easily fit in your mouth in one bite versus spearing it and chewing it off the fork.

  • If you are seated when you are introduced to someone who is standing, rise to meet them.
