Sample Instructions. Full instructions included with chart.

Not only do childhood traumas get fired and wired into the brain and nervous system, Strength, love and safety do as well. This is how to tap into resiliency, increase it, make it stronger and use it as a powerful resource.

Therapist: Today we are going to find and measure the positive people or events that created feelings of love, safety, strength, motivation and compassion. We will help your body and mind remember these sensations.

First, I am going to ask you 15 questions. ( one side of the chart) Rate the answers on a scale of 1- 4. One being Definitely Not True, and 4 being definitely True. 2 and 3 are in between answers.

For example, “As a child, coaches, teachers, neighbors or ministers helped or encouraged me.”

Client: 4 definitely true.

Note to Therapist: When the client answers, watch for positive affect.
