Off to Preschool!

We are so proud of our recent “graduates” like (from left) Wyatt, Awnaleesa and Jamus who have gone off to preschool! When a child turns three, we no longer provide early intervention services to our families. Many enter preschool in their local school districts. This transition isn’t always easy but your EI-TVI from A Shared Vision can help you navigate this process. The key is starting early.    According to Jamus’s mom Nicole, the first day of preschool was emotional for both of them. “Jamus and I cried the first day - a lot. By the second day Jamus only got clingy at the door, yet I cried. And by the third day, Jamus kissed me goodbye and told me to have a good day, and I cried. And the fourth day, Jamus didn’t even say goodbye to Daddy, and went into school, and I cried. And I cried because he adjusted so well and so quickly.” Because of the support this family received from their providers, “Jamus is thriving and happy and feels confident in his new learning and friends. He’s even wearing his glasses the entire time at school!” said Nicole.

November Is National Caregivers Month

During this month of gratitude we want to show our appreciation for all the parents and caregivers of children who are blind or visually impaired. While an EI-TVI or other provider might walk beside you as your coach and mentor, you are your child’s “first teacher.” Thank you for all you do to support your child!
