WATER METER CONVERSION UNDERWAY
As reported previously in eNEWS, the City of Wheatland is in the process of replacing all water meters in the community. When the system is complete, the city will provide login information so residents will be able to access their accounts online and track water use. During the conversion, If you suspect an error in your bill, please do not hesitate to contact staff at City Hall and report the problem. Please keep in mind that, due to old meters failing, some customers may have been charged just the base rate in the past when in fact water use exceeded the minimum 12-unit charge. City staff will make every effort to determine if an error has been made, and if so, correct the problem.

BEAR RIVER LEVEE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
Reclamation District 817 has awarded a contract to Odin Construction of Rocklin to construct 2,800 feet of new levee setback from the original levee, install a stability buttress along another 7,800 feet of the Bear River levee, and repair deficient pipes through the Bear River and Dry Creek levees west of Oakley Lane. The $11 million project is being funded by a State Flood System Repair Program grant (85%) and Yuba Water Agency (15%) to correct serious erosion and levee stability concerns in RD 817. Setback levee material is being excavated from a borrow site at the north end of C Street and is being hauled to the site by approximately 20-25 trucks making 10 round trips per day. Truck traffic is expected to remain heavy through mid-August, be put on hold while the cutoff wall is installed in the levee, and then resume to complete the upper portion of the new levee again in late September. All work will be completed prior to the flood season which begins November 1. The levee improvements will bring the City and agricultural lands to the west one step closer to meeting FEMA base flood protection.
