Proclaiming the Gospel; Equipping the Saints; Mobilizing the Church

"And He said to them, 'Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.'” Matthew 4:19

Why is evangelism so important? Because there is no other way to be reconciled to God but through Jesus Christ.

May 2023

Dear partners and family in our Lord Jesus, blessings in His Name.

We are excited to share with you what the Lord is doing and we pray you will be inspired. More than just being inspired, our prayer is that you will receive a key that unlocks spiritual clarity on how to share the Good News of Jesus. Friends ask us all the time, “How do you open a conversation, how do you share about Jesus, how do you lead someone to Jesus?” We have been doing this for 25 years together by God’s grace. For us it is a calling and we want to be faithful to the Lord and to His calling. We pray daily for divine appointments and that the Lord will equip us to share what He would have for that person. Mostly we pray that His love would flow through us and that we would see everyone the way He sees them. We see each person with intrinsic value, created in the image of God. Yes, the image is cut off by sin from life, but the Lord wants to reconcile and restore them through His only begotten Son, Jesus. We see them as eternal beings. The question is, “Where will they spend eternity?” As you spend time reading the following testimony, ask the Lord for a key to open the door for sharing the Good News with your own family and friends. We are praying for you that the Lord will use you mightily for His Glory and Honor.

USA - God Speaks Today

As we continue to bring the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus across the USA under the theme God Speaks Today, we have been encouraged through partnering with the Church here in Hawaii. Our mission is equipping and mobilizing the Church on evangelism. There were several unsaved people brought by church members to the meetings. The Body of Jesus wants to see their loved ones and neighbors saved. Surely, you do too. We rejoice that the Gospel of Jesus is going out; it is a beautiful thing to see the Body of Jesus working together. All for HIS Glory. A key to sharing the Gospel is to do it in love. It is the love of God that compels us and the Spirit of God that draws the unsaved. It has been so encouraging to speak on the topic of Matthew 17:1-5 where God is saying to the world and to the Church, “This is my beloved Son, listen to Him.” We need to point people to Jesus, so they can hear Him.

Powerful Testimony

After speaking at a congregation in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii, one Saturday night, Darlene and I stopped at a restaurant for a meal. In His divine leading, we met Aubrey, our waiter. We were broken in our spirit to see that he changed his body from a man to a woman, a strange phenomenon we see happening all over the USA. Satan is deceiving many young people with identity issues. Moved by God’s compassion we prayed for an open window to share with him. Amazingly, for a moment there were no clients and he was free, and we took that moment to explain the love and Gospel of Jesus and Aubrey’s true identity in the Son of God. We explained that God doesn’t make mistakes; fearfully and wonderfully God created you in the womb of your mother. We asked Aubrey, “If you die tonight, are you going to Heaven?” Convicted by the Holy Spirit, Aubrey said, “I am a sinner.” Aubrey recognized his nature in the light of the Holiness of the Lord Jesus, and the awareness that Jesus is God who became Man to reach out to him. He believed in the Person and Work of the Person, Jesus (another key). We gave an invitation to put his faith in Christ alone. We thank God for Aubrey’s boldness and his willing heart to pray a prayer of repentance to confess Jesus as Savior. The next day we gave his name and phone number to two local pastors for the follow-up. We appreciate your prayers for this young man to grow in the Lord Jesus.

An Encouragement from Darlene

When I first began sharing the Gospel I would be so nervous. I felt so uncomfortable speaking about spiritual things and I really didn’t know how to begin a conversation. Living in Israel for over 18 years really helped me to get out of my comfort zone. The more I shared, the more the Lord taught me. I guess it’s like anything that you practice, you become more comfortable and better at it. When I couldn’t answer a question I said, "I don’t know, but I will find out and get back with you." Over the years sharing Jesus has become a passion. I love it! I love people and I want them to hear the Good News. It is Good News, the best news ever. What I have experienced over and over is how confused people are about Jesus. Living in the Middle East, it is very important to let the person you are speaking with know that Jesus is not just God’s Son but God in the flesh. If Jesus is not God, He cannot forgive sin. Jesus Himself said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6). Jesus is the bridge to life. Israelis taught me how to speak my mind and not to withhold. Being on the road and not having so much time to build a relationship, the Lord has taught me how to start a conversation and turn it spiritual within minutes. There is something that happens when you speak to the spirit of the person. Within a short period that person is opening their heart; it’s really a work of the Holy Spirit. I believe that anyone can share God’s love and give an invitation to receive God’s gift which is His Son, Jesus. Romans 1:16 is a life verse for us: We are not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Gentile. I always keep in the forefront of my mind that the Gospel is the power of God for salvation. May the Lord use you to share His glorious Good News and not be ashamed.

Upcoming Schedule - Thank you for your prayers

By God’s grace we will soon be entering Summer 2023, and we are booked to share the Gospel and to equip churches on evangelism across the USA through July 31.

We are preparing two major evangelistic outreaches in Tanzania in August. Please pray how the Lord can use you to partner in the needs of these outreaches. We need to raise the funds to help the local African church to pay the down payments to hold the venues for the outreaches. We need $10,000 right away for these outreaches. We know the Lord is faithful and will provide through His people. Thank you for sowing into souls.

  • August 11, we will conduct the Zanzibar Israeli Jewish outreach. This 99% Muslim island in East Africa is visited by people from all over the world, including many Israelis. God has opened the door and we are working with 20-plus local churches. We trust many Jewish people will hear the Gospel to be saved for eternal life. We believe time is short, Israel needs the Son of God, Messiah Jesus. Together, let us bless the House of Israel with the Good News of Yeshua, the Messiah.

  • August 16-20, the church has asked us to conduct an open air 5-day evangelistic outreach to the Muslim community. The people of Zanzibar need Jesus, the Lord. We are blessed to partner with the local church to motivate them on evangelism. We will use the grounds outside the National Soccer Stadium. We were given a good price to rent the grounds and we must make down payments this month. The church will do the follow-up with new believers. As you know, the Gospel is free to people, but it costs to bring it. We will all contribute toward the same goal, that Jesus will be lifted up to Jews and Gentiles in the light of Romans 1:16.

  • In September, we will bring a team to Spain, to reach the multitudes of pilgrims walking on the El Camino. We are already working with the local church on the ground in Santiago de Compostela, where we will be doing evangelistic outreaches.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support for the love, and hope found only in the Gospel of Jesus, the Son of God for Jews and Gentiles.

Love in Him,

Henry & Darlene
