Houston-area Parent: I Thought the College Years Would Be Easier
(713) 553-6557
The Distraught Parents' Hotline (713.553.6557) is like happy hour -- without the adult beverages (at least on my end of the conversation) -- with a great listener. Parents unburden themselves to the Hotline with tales of their children's struggles, apologizing to me for being "that" mom or dad. I assure them that they are not alone: over the past 18 years, I've learned of daughters and sons grappling with anxiety, depression, grief, chronic illness, romantic entanglements, and other obstacles. These challenges often follow students from high school to college.
Parents Will Answer These Questions (And More) For Parents
- How can I stay sane and not appear on the local news?
- What's the first step?
- How do I help my student without doing everything for him?
- How do we choose the right school?
- What extracurricular activities made your students shine?
- How do you help your student deal with rejection?
- What surprised you during this process?
