News & Updates

As 2023 dawns, we hope for a peaceful and healthy year for all. At Houston Psychoanalytic Society, we are ringing in January with two events.

First is our Evening Speaker Series on Thursday, January 12th, 2023, from 7:00 to 8:30pm.
·    Hannah Decker, PhD presents “Almost Half a Century Since it was Expelled from the DSM, Why is Psychoanalytic Thought Still in the Wilderness?” This event considers the shift from post WWII emphasis on psychoanalysis dominance in American psychiatry, to the rise of an anti-psychiatry movement that shifted focus to more biologic psychiatry.

Next is our Ethics Conference on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 10:00am to 1:15pm.
·    Nancy McWilliams, PhD presents “Conflicts and Ethics in Psychoanalytic Consultation and Supervision.” This event combines two essential aspects of clinical practice and will consider the role of the early or experienced clinicians.
