We are sharing the exciting news that the Wifi in campus housing will be replaced with next generation technology!

USI is installing new cabling and next generation wireless access points throughout the apartments and residence halls. This will result in faster speeds, improved signal coverage and more connectivity reliability throughout Housing. New tools will also be available to USI IT to help minimize potential issues from occurring on the wireless network.

As this project moves forward, contractors will need to go inside each apartment/residence hall suite. Resident safety is a priority and contracted workers will have identification. HRL will notify residents the planned schedule for buildings by sending emails/texts and posting on social media.

This is a significant upgrade and will take several months to install all the equipment. We hope there is minimal to no disruption of service during this time. The goal is for the new technology to be up and running for fall 2022.

Beginning the week of February 14, contractors will begin boring in the ground for the new fiber conduit routes in McDonald West. They will also start pulling cable into the Bayh apartment building.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to improved Wifi service for our residents.

If you have questions about this project, please email HRL at living@usi.edu.
