USDA Proposes Service Delivery Changes for Faith-Based Providers

In accordance with Executive Order 13831, "Establishment of a White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative," the USDA proposes to remove existing regulatory requirements that faith-based service providers receiving federal funds provide an alternative provider. Among other changes, this proposed rule provides clarity about the rights and obligations of faith-based organizations participating in USDA programs, clarifies the USDA's guidance documents for financial assistance regarding faith-based organizations, and eliminates certain requirements for faith-based organizations that no longer reflect executive branch guidance. The proposed modifications would impact services relating to the USDA's rural affordable housing programs. Comments are due February 18, 2020.

HUD Modernizes Acceptable Separation Distance (ASD) Standards for Residential Propane Tanks

The final rule allows HUD-assisted projects to be near stationary above-ground propane storage tanks up to 1,000 gallons in size if they are compliant with standards set forth by the National Fire Protection Association.
