Another Road Closure on Route 60
The Route 60 at Cedar Lake Project is completed and open just in time for the f ull Closure on Illinois 60 between Belvidere Road and Wilson Road

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that a full closure will take place on Illinois 60 between Belvidere Road (Illinois 120) and Wilson Road, in unincorporated Lake County, beginning, weather permitting, Monday, June 20. The closure is necessary to repair a drainage structure under Illinois 60.

Beginning Monday, Illinois 60 will be closed in both directions between Belvidere Road and Wilson Road until Friday, June 24. To access eastbound Illinois 60, a posted detour will direct traffic east on Belvidere Road and south on Wilson Road to Illinois 60. Traffic travelling westbound on Illinois 60 should take the reverse route.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.

Be Aware
Our office received a call from a Fremont Township resident regarding a ruse attempted on her family.  A driver in a white pick up truck approached the resident and acted as if he knew the homeowner.  He then said there was a dispute about the property line and asked the gentleman to get his wife out of the house to look at the property line with him.  The homeowner knew the fence was on the property line, there was no dispute over it and this was an attempt to distract him.  These ruse burglaries are common.  While most of us are aware of the IRS and Microsoft scams, new scams keep coming. Volunteers Welcome in our Garden
If you drive by our administrative office, you will see the Fremont Township Community Garden, which is run by volunteers.

Our Garden is a multi-functional garden space that provides produce to our food pantry clients and low income seniors and provides opportunities for enjoyment and learning. It is a treasured site of community activity where residents are invited to get involved, whether as a garden volunteer, with a community service project, or simply to enjoy and make use of the garden as a get away from the hustle and bustle. The site already features a shed build by the Mundelein High School Shop Class, a rain barrel, functional up-cycled artworks, bird houses contributed by the girl scouts and a bug hotel, beehive and birdbath as part of an Eagle Scout Project.

We welcome new volunteers!  To learn more go to www.fremontgarden.org or to their Facebook page at  Fremont Township Community Garden.
