Horizon Honors Families,
Earlier this week, the Arizona Education Department released the 2021-22 School Letter Grades for all public schools statewide. These reports provide information about student achievement, college and career readiness, student growth, and other key areas of interest to families and the general public. This is the first time the letter grades have been calculated since 2019.
• Horizon Honors Elementary School (Grades K-6) received a “B”
• Horizon Honors Secondary School (Grades 7-12) received an “A”
School letter grades are largely based on standardized statewide assessments. Letter grades include scores with different weights for K-8 schools, high schools, and alternative schools that include growth, proficiency, attendance, English Learner (EL), and acceleration or readiness. High schools are also scored on College Career Readiness Indicators (CCRI) and graduation rates.
Like all schools in Arizona and across the country, Horizon Honors continues to recover from the impacts of COVID-19. We are incredibly proud of our hard-working students and staff, who have put forth their best efforts under extremely difficult conditions. In addition, it is important to note that Horizon Honors Elementary School is just .23 points shy of receiving an "A" grade.
While we are seeing positive trends in the data, we have work to do to ensure our students achieve their full potential. That work has already begun with a focus on continuous improvement and ensuring our students recover any learning loss experienced during the pandemic. Our teachers are ready and driven to ensure our students have the resources and support they need to truly thrive.
We appreciate the support of our families as we work together to achieve academic success for all our students.
