Before Samson Kimuli joined ECM, he didn’t know much about God. He actually questioned if God really existed, “I was living in suffering. When you’re suffering, you think, ‘Why should I suffer if God really cares for me?’”
Samson was the youngest of 5 siblings. His father passed away in 2009 and within a week, he lost 3 more family members. The loss shook their family to the core. His mother sold vegetables at a small stand and wondered how she could keep her son
in school and take care of her family at the same time.
Life was hard and there were no easy answers,
aside from a miracle…
Then ECM stepped in.
Matthew, an ECM missionary, had gotten to know Samson through their Rising Star program where he played football. Matthew invited him to ECM and his mother agreed. It was through this answer to prayer that Samson knew God was real.
Samson enjoyed Bible Studies, learning Scripture and “how to be a preacher,” and sharing the Gospel with children. He is a disciplined student who worked his way through Secondary School. Now, with ECM’s help, he is studying at the University.
This grateful young adult knows how important it is to have someone help you through hard times, so he is considering becoming a psychiatrist so he can use his life experience and faith to help others who are suffering.
Besides his relationship with Christ, Samson is especially grateful to ECM for his education. He knows, without them stepping in to support him in countless ways, he would be living a futile life on the streets.
Samson’s life is the product of the miracle he so desperately needed. He is so grateful for God’s love and intervention in his life that he can’t contain it. His smile says it all, “Jesus is my personal Savior. When I was going to drop out of school, then suddenly ECM came. I knew God was there and that He cares for me.”
