A Student's Perspective - What's It Like 
Taking a  Class with a Business Simulation?
In a previous post, 5 Teaching Methods to Maximize the Learning Potential of Business Simulations, we outlined how to structure an entire class around a business simulation to maximize students' learning and real-world experience. The five teaching methodologies listed in this previous post from February, are big changes from what you'd expect to see in a traditional classroom. In today's blog post, we decided to flip this perspective and examine the topic from a student's perspective.
   
We posed open-ended questions about the value of various parts of the business
simulation class to 40 students and their volunteer business coaches. We asked t hem the pros and cons of the pedagogoy, role of business coaches, executive briefings, and our executie briefing rubric. On the whole, students were positive about all aspects of the business simulation course but often found it challenging to

Prof. Steadman and Dr. Bettencourt congratulate each other after a game well played.
Dr. Lance Bettencourt from Texas Christian University and Prof. Kurt Steadman from the University of Montana Western won the inaugural Marketplace Challenge held at the 2018 AMA Winter Conference in New Orleans, LA. 

The competition was furious but Dr. Bettencourt and Prof. Steadman proved to be the most nimble, the most perceptive, and the most clever as they each walked away with an Amazon Kindle Fire.  

All players deserve a round of applause for their efforts!
