Happy New Year Betsy!
As we wrapped up 2022, I am amazed at the ambitiousness we always set, and how close we came to actually achieving all of our goals. What we fell short on, we made up for in many wonderful ways as well. Hope for HIE is connecting so many families, providing educational resources, peer and social worker-led support, and blazing trails in advocacy and research.
One of the comments I heard from a few of our Medical Advisory Board members was that Hope for HIE felt omnipresent in 2022. For the current size of our organization, I think there is no higher compliment. I look forward to continuing this path in 2023.
We have so many wonderful things planned to support our families this year, and we cannot do it without your support. Thank you to everyone who continues to carry the flag of hope. Speaking of, we finalized our 2022 Impact Report, and you can find it linked below.
We've set some goals for this year, and they include a greater focus on educating and empowering our families through health information literacy trainings and resources, exploring an HIE registry that will be useful to researchers and others who are wishing to help us improve the quality of life for children and families impacted by HIE, and building on the programs we started last year under the direction of our social worker. We are adding Child Life Services to our programming, and welcome Annie Gunning, CCLS to our small but mighty team. You can learn more about what the scope of Chile Life services are below, and join us for a Q&A on Wednesday, February 22 at 10 am EST, as a part of our Medical Advisory Board Educational Series.
I look forward to connecting with many of you this year, and I'm so eager to bring people back together in May at our biennial conference retreat for moms (more info below on that, too!).
Most sincerely,
Betsy Pilon
