Gold Award Symbol

Gold Honors for Lehman NSSLHA

Lehman's National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) Chapter is the recipient of Gold Chapter Honors for the 9th consecutive year for "attaining a distinguished level of achievement in the areas of member recruitment and engagement, community outreach and service, legislative advocacy."

Lehman Student Awarded Opportunity to Support Ocean Policy and Conservation

Undergraduate student Daniel Schwartz is one of only 130 students in the nation awarded a scholarship from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship includes a two-year academic award and a paid summer internship opportunity at any NOAA facility nationwide.

Sprouting Hoop Dreams

The Sun Herald reports that former Lightning player Marquese Johnson '23 returned to his hometown of Philadelphia to help revive the Penn-West Philadelphia Basketball League, a program he participated in as an eighth-grader.

NY Sportsday reports that sports journalist and Lehman alumnus Howie Karpin '79 co-authored 976-1313: How Sports Phone Launched Careers and Broke New Ground. Before the internet and apps were a thing, a quick telephone call was all you needed to get the latest sports scores and news.

Coming Out to Dead People 🏳️‍🌈

Alumnus Ricky Sim '08 opens his queer grief comedy solo show at the Soho Playhouse on May 23. Coming Out to Dead People explores Sim's experiences growing up, learning how to keep his first boyfriend with the help of the reggae rapper Sean Paul, while grappling with the decision to come out to his conservative Chinese-Malaysian immigrant mother, just as she was diagnosed with cancer. The Lehman community has been following the newest additions to campus (from a safe distance).


The Multimedia Center's Nathanial Gary, one of the photographers featured in this video, started his Lehman College career in 2018, graduated in 2022, and has seen many things on campus before, during, and after his time as a student. But seeing the family of geese truly warmed his heart—a shared sentiment!

"It was exhilarating to photograph literal new life on campus!"

Lehman's Spring Fling will be a celebratory garden party like no other. NYS Attorney General–The Honorable Letitia A. James ’82 is the featured speaker and Bally’s Corporation Chairman Soo Kim will be the esteemed honoree. Guests will watch the winning performers in Lehman’s Got Talent, enjoy cuisine from Taste of the Bronx, take in live music and entertainment, and bid on Lehman’s first series of NFTs and other items in a silent auction. Honors Honored: Lehman College Campus Honors and Scholar Engagement (CHASE) held their end of year awards ceremony with certificates awarded to students, faculty and special guest Lamount R. Evanson '19 (photo 4), Lehman’s first Schwartzman Scholarship recipient which allowed Evanson to study at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Next, he is going to Harvard University for a Ph.D. in Virology.

Business Accolades: At the School of Business Recognition Awards Ceremony, students received Departmental Honors, Outstanding Achievement Awards, Club Leadership Recognition Awards, and LEAP Awards. Exciting Visit: Earlier this month, Felipe Allard, Consul General of Chile in NY and Rodrigo Matamoros, Deputy Consul of Chile in NY visited Lehman for discussions with President Fernando Delgado and Provost Jorge Silva-Puras about future partnerships with Lehman, the CUNY Mexican Studies Institute, and international book fair, FILNYC.

Perfect Note: SE:UM,  a powerhouse quintet of Western jazz and Korean folk music virtuosos joined Lehman Music, Multimedia, Theatre, and Dance faculty and students for a workshop.
