Purpose of the DE&I Section
This section is intended to communicate the different observances that occur during the month, but it is not an all inclusive list. If you would like for the DE&I team to include something for a given month, please reach out to Lee Wagner the month prior.
April Observances and Events
National Minority Health Month - National Minority Health Month is an opportunity to learn about these conditions and to share resources and information with your patients and community members.
Stress Awareness Month - Mental health can positively or negatively impact your physical health and risk factors for heart disease and stroke, according to “Psychological Health, Well-Being, and the Mind-Heart-Body Connection.”
National Volunteer Month - April recognizes all those who give their time and energy during National Volunteer Month. President George H.W. Bush launch the 1000 Points of Light campaign in 1991 and established April as National Volunteer Month. Be sure to thank any Homefull volunteers assisting your programs.
National Sexual Assault Awareness Month - Every April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month strives to be a voice of the victims of sexual abuse and violence. One way to participate this month is to wear the color teal to honor survivors and keep the conversation going.
