Holy Week is the last week of Lent and the week preceding Easter Sunday. During Holy Week, we remember the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the importance of the Last Supper with his disciples, and his suffering, death, burial and resurrection.

Central United Methodist Church Worship Design Team created this daily Holy Week devotion that allows you to read scripture, pray and listen to music that expresses the importance of this Holy Season.

The Authority of Jesus is Challenged in the Temple

Matthew 21: 23-27

23 All the people were astonished and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”

24 But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”

25 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? 27 And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges.

Additional Scriptures to Read: Matthew 21: 18-22, Matthew 21: 28-46

Prayer: God, give us the full armor to stand strong in our knowledge of You as we continually share our witness with others. Help us to freely share the stories of Jesus from the Bible and in our daily lives. Empower us to be the Body of Christ that You need at the specific time to plant, to nurture, to encourage, to teach, to protect, to inspire seeds in new believers to facilitate their growth in Your discipleship. Increase our faith and boldness to proclaim the truth of Jesus to the world. In the name of Christ Jesus,
