In our First Reading, From the Book Of Samuel
1:20-22,24-28

This reading teaches us that motherhood and life are a gift from God. The presence of children in a family signals the continuation of life and manifests the newness of God's love, which gives origin to ever new creation.

The Responsorial Psalm is that that we put our trust in Jesus because of his love and kindness and that he has done great things for us, so we should be filled with joy and love for him and to be like him
in your self-giving.

In the Second Reading, From the First Letter of Saint John

3:1-2,21-24

Every family must be a mirror of the divine love because the root of every love is God. Therefore, members of a family should deal lovingly with one another

In the Gospel of Luke
2:41-52

Entire villages joined the annual Passover pilgrimage to Jerusalem. It is quite normal that Jesus' parents did not worry about their son till the first night on their way home. Jesus listened and asked questions. At twelve years old, a year before his "bar mitzvah", he learned the Torah, the Law of Moses, and its interpretations by the rabbis. "In my Father's house" indicates the close personal relationship between Jesus and the Father. Mary had to realize that Jesus was not simply her son, but the Father's Son, who had a special mission that would mean separation and pain for her. Christmas, God sharing our human condition, is a mystery that we must accept in faith, as Mary did.

Meditations
“Lord, I too lack the necessary faith to see the blessings that accompany Your Cross, as well as the many crosses I am given in life. Help me to be purified in my faith so that I can see Your hand at work in all things, even suffering, injustice and persecution. May I see life from Your perspective alone. Jesus, I trust in You."
