Holy Faith Weekly Update 5/28/2024

Living In Ordinary Time
The experiences [of the Holy Spirit] are real, and I am persuaded that Jesus longs for us to trust them, and integrate them into our lives of faith. That means finding a way to live in those long stretches when not much seems to be happening, and still trusting that God’s spirit is at work, in and through us—and if not through us at a given moment, then through someone else. -- The Rt. Rev. Marianne Budde, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington in her blog, May 16, 2024

Letter from Pastor Andrea
|
|
Dear Holy Faith Friends,
I love serving as your pastor and growing in faith with you. I am also deeply grateful for sabbatical time this summer.
This Wednesday, I will head to the Weber Center in Adrian for a spiritual retreat. This summer, I’ve adopted “Reconnect” as my theme, and I plan to reconnect with God, self, family, and friends. The Sabbatical Project has identified truths about sabbaticals:
| |
- Sabbaticals help conquer burnout.
- Sabbaticals spark profound, positive changes, providing a safe space to heal, explore, create, and make changes.
- Sabbaticals benefit everyone.
I am trusting that last point, praying that God’s Spirit will renew each and every one of us.
While I’m away, the Rev. David Hendricks will provide worship and also pastoral care. I think you will find him to be a breath of fresh air. Parish Leadership Team President, Teri Kollath, will be available for administrative questions or anything pertaining to our community life. Please join me in thanking Pastor Dave and Teri.
As I step away, I’m incredibly thankful to the staff, PLT, and Ministry Team Leaders who will continue helping us love and serve the Lord. When we reunite in September, I will look forward to hearing how God has been at work in each of you, in our congregation, and in our community.
Now to God who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to God’s power that is at work within us, to God be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! – Ephesians 3:20-21
Yours in Christ Jesus,
Andrea+

This Summer – Join Holy Faith’s Efforts to Forgive Medical Debt for Our Neighbors & Root Out an Underlying Cause of Hunger
|
|
Partnering with Undue Medical Debt, Undue Medical Debt is a charity that buys medical debt in bundles, so for every $1 we raise, Undue will buy up $100 of debt. HF aims to raise $10,000, essentially buying up $1million medical debt in Washtenaw, Wayne, and Jackson Counties.
The Parish Leadership Team has designated up to $5,000 in Memorial Funds to match gifts made by others. The idea will be to invite community members and community partners to contribute, teaming up with HF to abolish debt.
