Scott Porter grew up drawing all the time, and began painting in 1994 at age 16. He started formal art study at Cheltenham College , in Cheltenham, England, completed A-level art course 1994-1996, completed his BFA at UMass, Amherst 2002, and studied closely under abstract expressionist James Hendrix.
Scott began studying lampwork glass in Manchester NH 1999 and throughout the years has taken workshops and intensive classes in classical Drawing, studied Murrine making with Loren Stump, taught lampworking for the Currier Art Museum crafts program via Queen City Lampworks glass studio in Manchester 2004-2005 for 2 semesters, and co-taught lampworking at Snowfarm in Williamsburg, MA 2007.
He has had a variety of small shows in galleries, shops, exhibitions, on the East and West coast as well as a collaborative piece in a museum and magazine in Japan, and most recently a solo exhibit of retrospective 25 years of painting in the Pepperell Library 2019.
Right now his focus is learning to create digital course offerings in painting, lampwork glass Murrine making, food medicine, and creative coaching. When he is not making art, you can find him playing guitar and exploring New England.
