December 8th was a thrilling day filled with excitement as Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) broke ground on our newest 36-home development in the Washington neighborhood of Long Beach, California. We are pleased to announce the 2023 Los Angeles Builders Ball® honorees, Mattel (Foundation Builder), Drew and Jonathan Scott of the Property Brothers (Dream Builder), and The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company (Builder of the Year)! We recognize our honorees for their tremendous dedication to supporting our mission to build affordable housing and give every child in greater Los Angeles a home. The Los Angeles Builders Ball celebrates Habitat LA, our honorees, and counterparts in the building, real estate, and related industries, as well as partners and donors who are helping transform the landscape of Los Angeles. 

The Builders Ball — which will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California — is Habitat LA’s largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds from the event support Habitat LA’s efforts to build and repair affordable housing throughout greater Los Angeles. Additionally, this marks the fourth consecutive year that City National Bank will serve as the event’s presenting sponsor.

During the month of December, we delivered these thoughtful and fun gifts to families throughout greater Los Angeles.

In the spirit of joy and holiday cheer, Habitat LA recently celebrated our stellar donors and volunteers with a special holiday party in the beautiful city of Redondo Beach overlooking the pier.  This year, many of our volunteers and donors rolled up their sleeves and provided critical support during special events like Power Women, Power Tools®, Veterans Home Repair Blitz, Hollywood Build, playhouse builds and many other build days throughout the year. You support our programs and initiatives year-round, and we look forward to your continued support in the new year!

IRA Rollover 

If you are 70½ or older and own an IRA, you can make gifts directly from your IRA to Habitat LA. An IRA rollover gift will not be included in your taxable income and may qualify for your required minimum distribution.
