Chris Harmon Wins World Figure 8� Tour Race

The 22^nd event in series history was held Saturday night September 22^nd at the Sportsdrome Speedway near Louisville, Kentucky. A 50-lap World Figure 8� Tour feature joined the historic 46^th Annual Mid-Western Figure 8 as main events for the fans. It was heating up early in the program as a star-studded roster of champions invaded the quarter-mile racing facility for qualifications. United States Figure 8 Champion Mark Tunny laid it on the field by replacing his own overall Figure 8 track record with a lap of 17.785 seconds. Unfortunately for him, that was the highlight of his night as mechanical woes kept him from the main event. Heat one saw Lexington's Calvin Crain victorious over Nick Moore and RJ Norton Jr. The second heat had the very improved RJ Norton III taking the checkered flag over brother's Ben and Jesse Tunny. With Mark's absence, one of the most decorated Figure 8 racers around Chris Harmon took over the roll as pole sitter. The Brooks, Kentucky wheelman darted out to the lead off the jump. Recently crowned 2-time World Figure 8� Champion Ben Tunny took chase, but his effort went up in smoke on the unlucky 13^th lap. Another tangle was around halfway damaging the machines of Nick Moore, Norton III, and Jesse Tunny. Harmon would resumed the advantage and roll to his first career World Figure 8� Tour victory. He becomes the first from his area to ever win in the series. 2011 WF8T champion Doug Greig quietly came away second with the talented Mark Harmon finishing third. Chris went on later that evening to defend his Mid-Western crown for one of the truly best Figure 8 feats in a long, long time.

RJ Norton Jr Earns 2^nd World Figure 8� Tour Title

Indianapolis driver RJ Norton Jr capped off a very solid season by winning his second World Figure 8� Tour championship this past Saturday evening. He finished 4^th in the series finale at the Sportsdrome Speedway in Jeffersonville, Indiana to ink his name on the trophy. That result just happened to be his worst of the WF8T campaign. This came after a miraculous comeback two weeks prior at the Bryant Heating and Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome� in the herald Three Hour Endurance Race�. His famous #69 machine was heavily damaged in a violent crossover crash with Danny Turner. Fans gasped as Norton merely backed away from the accident and charged hard for the final hour of the event to claim a podium finish. This World Figure 8� Tour title now sits on the mantel next to his duel 2010 accomplishment of the World Figure 8� Championship and the WF8T points triumph. Norton also won a trio of Figure 8 main events at his Speedrome home track in their premier Late Model division.
