Legacy Scholarship Approved for All Grades!

The Hilton Head Prep Legacy Scholarship, an honors-based scholarship offered to children of alumni, is now available for students entering all grades and is no longer limited to lower school students. Scholarships are awarded based on academic strength, character and commitment to excellence.

Eligibility

New applicants entering junior kindergarten through grade 12 whose parent or grandparent received a diploma from Hilton Head Prep, Sea Pines Academy or May River Academy are eligible to apply.

Awards

Recipients are awarded a $5,000 scholarship toward tuition that will remain renewable as long as the recipient remains in good academic and social standing. (Legacy scholars must still pay the standard enrollment deposit to hold their space for the upcoming school year and other additional fees).

If you live in the area or considering returning to the area, we hope you'll take advantage of this terrific offer!
Together Again...at the Alumni Socials!

In late October, the Alumni Relations office hit the road for a long-overdue trip to see alumni in the Atlanta area. We gathered at the legendary Stooges sports bar, owned by John Scarminach '93, for a great night with great friends. Thanks to John for hosting and to all of you who came out to support the event: Paul Halloran and Rick Saunders '95, Randy Ferree and Alex Mavrogordado '06, Boykin Robinson and Angela Harden Smock '88 and Lainie Cantrell Crose '86.

In January, we held the annual Winter Social, only this time, Clayton Rollison '99 and his lovely wife, Leah, hosted our crew at his new establishment, The Lucky Rooster! We had a great turnout and while all of the food that Clayton brought out was delicious, his famous pork rinds and the figs wrapped in bacon were the big hits. Thanks to all who attended, including Catherine Scarminach Lewallen '95 (and husband Jonathan), Catherine Lawrence Oomens '92, Janet Cully '00 (and significant other Andy), Chris Walton '86 (and wife Amanda), Andrew Kolb '00, Leigh Hopper Kolb '06, David Butler '03, Jennifer Klippel '86, Ashley Gunnin '84, Megan McGarty '90, Robert Klippel '83 and Lainie Cantrell Crose '86.

College Panel: Alumni Share Experiences of College Life with Students

The annual College Panel, hosted by the Alumni Association, brings alumni back each year to meet with juniors and seniors to share their college experiences and give them the opportunity to ask questions about life beyond Hilton Head Prep. This year, we welcomed back alumni from the Class of 2010: Kirsten Cadden (UGA), Sophie Kerr-Dineen (USC), Maddy and Manda Martin (Mary Washington University), Jarrett Nixon (Clemson) and Patrick Ryan (Arizona State), who offered plenty of advice for successfully transitioning from high school to college and gave kudos to Prep faculty for preparing them for the challenges of their college curriculum.

Alumni Association Board Member Dave Butler '03
introduced panelists from the Class of 2010.
'Odd Years' Dominate in Alumni Basketball Game

We had a great turnout at the annual Alumni Basketball game over Thanksgiving. Thanks to all who played: Kevin Orford '09, Alex Orford '11, Dylan Rosser '09, Ben Perry '09, Michael Soby'08, JP Treadaway '08, Charlie Wilmot '13, Paul Holmes Jr. '82, Lane Czura '11, Kim Zwerner '08, Alexandra Fuller '08, Randy Ferree '06, Andrew Hazel '06, Kelsey O'Brien '08 and Chuckie Scarminach '06. The green team (even graduating years) played hard but were no match for the black team (odd graduating years), who won both halves!

Make your plans for the 2014 (and beyond!) Alumni Basketball game. It's always the Friday after Thanksgiving in the Field House. We hope to see you there!
