Message from the Principal | | |
Greetings Hilltop Families,
I would like to congratulate Mrs. Trudell on being selected as one of 120 educators to win the Lexia LETRS Science of Reading grant. She will have the opportunity to complete two years of training to strengthen her skillset as a reading specialist. We are thankful for her commitment as a lifelong learner and dedication to the students at Hilltop. Although I missed my musical debut, I want to give kudos to Mrs. Chapman and our band students. The feedback I received has been amazing!
As a reminder, parent-teacher conferences are being held on February 22. The conferences are invite only. If you do not receive an invitation and feel your child is not meeting the academic and social-emotional standards for their grade, please feel free to reach out to their homeroom teacher.
In our ongoing effort to foster a collaborative school environment, I recently had the pleasure of hosting the first meeting of the Parent Advisory Collaboration Team (PACT). The role of this diverse group of parents is to provide feedback into how we can address both the opportunities and challenges within our school. I am grateful for their partnership and valuable insights. I look forward to working closely with the Parent Advisory Collaboration Team as we strive to make Hilltop a better place for our students.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the sunshine!
Educationally Yours,
Dr. Octavia Reid

Third-Grade Instrument Rental
All third graders have now been introduced to the musical instruments that are offered at Hilltop during their music Unified Arts class time with Mrs. Chapman and Mrs. DeViney. Each student selected and ranked their top 3 instrument choices. They had the opportunity to assist in making a well-informed decision. Based on interest and overall musical ensemble balance, students have now been assigned their individual instruments. They have been placed in the appropriate third-grade instrumental music class.
Students will be sent home with their instrument selection this week and parents/guardians are being asked to rent instruments by February 15. (Please note the date change due to the calamity days). We will provide families with rental company options, instrument sizing, and information necessary for a successful start on their new instruments. *Please do not rent an instrument until you receive this information from school. It is very important that orchestra students are sized by Mrs. DeViney before renting.
