Message from the Principal |
Greetings Hilltop families,
I would like to personally invite parents of the House of Accountability to our house meeting this month. We will host one parent or guardian per housemate on March 22 at 8 a.m. Wear your favorite color blue, learn your house chant, and come have some fun.
Congratulations to fifth graders Charlotte White and Emma Vesci-Perez for receiving the Senders Pediatrics Kindness Grant for their Friendship Finders Club. Our Kindness Rock Stars will showcase their club during the Family Kindness Festival on Sunday, May 5.
I would also like to thank the PTO for providing Leap Day activities to help us celebrate the day. The students truly enjoyed searching the building for frogs.
I hope you have a restful and enjoyable weekend!
Educationally Yours,
Dr. Octavia Reid
Hilltop Principal

Classroom Spotlight: Mrs. Bruce
The students in Mrs. Bruce's third-grade math class have been focusing on learning about fractions. The initial step for every project involved determining the denominator by counting. The class engaged in several hands-on projects, fostering discovery and comprehension of fractions. The unit began with an edible introduction to identifying fractions. Students counted the slices to find the denominator. As the unit progressed, students explored both fractions of a set and fractions of a whole, representing them in word form and positioning them on number lines. The unit culminated with the creation of pizza projects, which required teamwork and collaboration. Fun and learning was had by all!
