Peace Panty/Community Garden/Community Closet
Hillsdale Community,
We hope everyone had a restful spring break. Please join us on April 20th, Earth Day, as we celebrate the Two Year Anniversary of our Hillsdale Community Garden. We will start with a Gratitude Circle at 8:30am for all of our amazing volunteers who have contributed to the development of our thriving garden AND welcome anyone who is brand new and would like to join our garden team. Coffee, donuts and community will be provided. No experience necessary. Stay for an hour or stay a bit longer and help us plant seedlings (patiently waiting in HHS Green House) in 23 of our raised beds. We produced over 1,500 pounds of organic fruits and vegetables in 2023 which are distributed directly to families at our Friday morning Peace Pantry.
Please join us for our Community Closet Open House on Thursday, April 18 from 8:30am-10:00am OR 2:30pm-3:30pm. We will celebrate the One Year Anniversary of our Community Closet. Our Community Closet Club Leadership Team (Lauryn Matsumoto, Alex Carreon, Lila Corkish and Marina Sanchez) will welcome guests to our Community Closet space (Stadium Parking Lot) and offer morning or afternoon refreshments. Join us to learn more about how you can support our mission in providing seasonal clothing and essential items to Hillsdale students and families impacted by the high cost of living in San Mateo County.
Lastly, we want to thank our dedicated volunteers who continue to support our Peace Pantry Emergency Drive Thru every Friday morning from 7:30am-9:00am. Each week we provide groceries and essential items to 140 families from Hillsdale and Bridge School. A special thank you to all of our Hillsdale parents, alumni parents, teachers and staff who show up BEFORE their work day to work the drive thru or deliver groceries to families who do not have transportation. We can never express our gratitude enough but we hope you know how much we appreciate your extraordinary effort week in and week out!
