Highlights from the 117th Meeting
The 117th meeting of Presbytery of the James was held June 18, 2024. The meeting included a welcome to three new minister members and recognition of six recently retired ministers. Participants conducted the work of the presbytery, examining candidates, approving policies, and hearing reports from committees. A summary of the meeting is available to read on the presbytery website. The meeting recording will be published this week.
Candidates, Inquirer Approved for Next Steps in Ministry Journey
At last week's presbytery meeting, candidates Madison Cody and Noah Morgan were examined and approved for ordination to ministry of the Word and Sacrament. Madison serves as a staff chaplain at Cedarfield retirement community in Henrico. Addison Schmitt (Westminster, Richmond) was examined for candidacy for the ordered ministry of the Word and Sacrament and was received as a candidate. Congratulations, Madison, Noah, and Addison!
Presbytery Approves New Policy for Pastors and Their Former Congregations | On June 18, the presbytery approved a policy guiding the relationship between former pastors and the congregations they previously served. It replaces an earlier policy. The new document provides incoming pastors and congregations with an opportunity to establish healthy new pastoral relationships, while extending grace to outgoing pastoral relationships. If you have any questions, please direct them to your Commission on Ministry liaison. Both the policy and the list of COM liaisons can be found on the presbytery website, under Resources, then Forms and Documents.
