How you've helped your neighbors in need on their road to self-sufficiency.
High schoolers eager to learn English

On the North Shore Beverly Bootstraps is one of the only agencies that continues our adult education programs during the summer months. This summer, we supported Isabella*, Juan* and three other students who were enrolled at Beverly High School. They had only arrived in this country in late spring and wanted to continue to learn English over the summer. After meeting with them and their teacher they completed the paperwork and joined the ESOL morning classes. They were so eager to improve their English that they opted to attend our evening program as well. Other members of their families even registered for classes after hearing about them.

When the high schoolers returned to school in the fall, they had increased their ability to communicate, and read and write in English - which means they were more confident and prepared for the academic year ahead. Three of the students have continued to come to the evening classes on Monday and Wednesday evening during the school year.

This is just one of the exciting ways we collaborate with other community partners to provide support for our new residents of Beverly.  Thank you for providing your support so that these students have a much easier time obtaining their high school diploma and enabling them to get a job with sustainable wages.
