Debris from weather events may clog storm drains

Recent wind, ice and rain may have dropped branches, leaves and other debris into storm drains. Continue to check and clean your storm drains after weather events to prevent flooding.

Tips for storm drain cleaning:

  • Use a rake to clear debris
  • Only remove items from the top of the grate
  • Do not remove the grate
  • Do not put your hands or feet into the drain
  • Do not rake debris into the street

In addition to storm drains, make sure to clear sidewalks. Tree debris can be a tripping hazard and wet leaves can be slippery. Property owners are responsible for keeping sidewalks clear, accessible and safe.
