It all begins with Halloween candy and then it's Thanksgiving Pies. Next up is Hanukkah with lots of potato latkas and 8 days of chocolate gelt. For everyone else, it's the Christmas cookies and advent chocolates. Many are already enjoying festive coffee drinks and fancy cocktails during their celebrations and, New Year's champagne is right around the corner. Tis-the-Season!

It's actually the season for sugar overload. It doesn't matter if it's white, brown, fruit, honey, maple, coconut, agave, alcohol, white flour, or white starch, they are all considered sugar and they stress out every system in the body. Sugar inflames the brain aggravating depression, brain fog, and neurological issues. Sugar creates inflammation throughout the body which you may experience as pain and swelling in your joints and muscles. Sugar drains the body of important nutrients and lowers your energy reserves, and it taxes the immune system by feeding viruses, bacteria, yeasts, and parasites making those infections flourish. Oh, and don't forget about weight gain or the impossible task of losing weight when sugar is your close friend.

The Very Best Winter Wellness Tip we can provide is to ask you to become aware of your sugar intake in all of its forms and minimize it whenever possible. Read Labels! Look for the added sugars per serving size and try to keep it in the single digits. Look at the carbohydrate count (just another name for sugar) and try to keep that as low as you can. Reducing dietary sugars happen to be Dr. Robyn and Michele's superpower so if you need any help at all, please reach out. You will begin to feel so much better once sugar intake drops down, that is a promise!
