Biden’s $2B biotech, biomanufacturing plan – here’s what in it

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – President Biden unveiled a plan to expand biomanufacturing, and biotechnology with $2 billion pledged for a variety of efforts last week. Some of these initiatives may have special appeal to North Carolina’s growing life science sector.
Nearly 800 life sciences companies employ some 70,000 people in the state, according to the N.C. Biotechnology Center. And another 2,500 other companies do business related to the life science sector.
And Deborah Ross, who represents North Carolina’s 2nd District, was among federal officials involved in the announcement.
