Happy Black History Month from RHD!

Celebrate Black History Month with us! Throughout February, RHD has an array of captivating virtual events lined up to educate us on the resilience of the Black community and the impact that it has had on our history and culture. Back by popular demand, our cherished Black Children’s LIT event will delight families again this year. We're also thrilled to announce the return of Black History Month Movie Night, featuring a compelling movie that captures the struggles and triumphs of Black Americans. Join us in commemorating the rich tapestry of the Black experience and their resilience with these enlightening and engaging events!

Wilhelmina Harvey Finds Hope and Support at Montgomery County Homeless Services  

“I’m glad that I’m here, because the people and staff are wonderful to me,” Wilhelmina Harvey exclaims. As the 59-year-old Norristown native approaches her third week at RHD’s Montgomery County Homeless Services, she feels immense gratitude for the lifeline the program has provided her. Homeless for over two years and navigating various shelters, Wilhelmina found hope when she began her journey at the program on November 29th, 2023. Wilhelmina shares that the program has helped her in many ways, providing her with food, shelter, water, and, most importantly, support. With the staff’s help and assistance, she has been able to maintain sobriety for a month. She shares that if it weren’t for Montgomery County Homeless Services, she doesn’t know where she would be today!  

RHD prides itself on providing a safe and open culture for participants like Wilhelmina. Everyone who walks into Montgomery County Homeless Services or any other RHD program is always able to communicate their thoughts and feelings. They can trust that our services will improve their quality of life. 

Keeping feet warm since 2014, RHD’s Street2Feet has provided essential day shelter and outreach services to the homeless community in Monroe County, PA. In recent years, the program has teamed up with Bombas’ Giving campaign to provide socks to those in need. When it came time to fill out a renewal form for 2024, program director Leslie Perryman decided to order more socks than usual – 7,500, in fact. To Leslie’s surprise and delight, Bombas approved the full quantity.

This month, share the love by giving back to those in need. A donation to RHD, a compassionate organization dedicated to empowering individuals and strengthening communities, makes a tangible difference in the lives of countless individuals. Your contribution helps provide essential resources, support services, and opportunities for those facing challenges such as homelessness, mental illness, and poverty.
