"A Million Dreams”

THE MID-WEEK BUZZ

Happy Thursday Dear Church

If you did not make it to our worship and party on Sunday, well, you missed a wonderful day. The Spirit’s presence was palpable in the sanctuary. The music, off the charts. The ending liturgy of farewell and release, very meaningful for all of us. I am so grateful for everyone who made the day a success. The retirement celebration seemed to be simply an extension of our worship. As we honored Pat and Debbie, we were honoring God. I joked that maybe we should have a party every week. The energy was amazing.

This coming Sunday, we will continue highlighting our congregation’s theme for 2024, “A Million Dreams.” I am very excited about this series that will take us all the way to Easter Sunday, April 1st. I look back at my own life and wonder, what dreams did I have as a youngster that led me to where I am today. It was a crazy journey filled with “a million dreams.” Some of my dreams changed over the years, while others seem to grow and build on each other. I want to encourage you to be a part of worship during this year. Worship is the bedrock of who we are. Our times together on Sunday morning, are so much more than what happens in the sanctuary from 9:15-10:30. The fellowship we share is a great reminder of the people in our lives that love and support our individual dreams. Together, our combined dreams work in partnership with God. When we are working in partnership with the source of all love, we can be assured that our direction and plans will be blessed.

Until Sunday, find a time in your week to remember to dream. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that your dreams are too small and do not matter. Your dreams are what propel you forward. Savor them, nurture them and offered them to God. You might be amazed at the results. I love being your pastor!

Holding you close and lifting you high!

Amazing Teams (maybe you should join?!)

This week I just want to tell you how grateful I am for the team that we have. Very few churches I have been a part of have such faithful people who serve every single week like we do. Most churches I have been a part of have rotations of at least 2 people per position that rotate to give one another a break. But people like Mark and Vicki Holland serve every single week on our media team. They do such a great job, but I know that they’d love to train someone to help them out and give them a break doing sound or running slides.

Jeff Wield and Bernie Carrol are at every rehearsal and on stage nearly every week and have been for years. They work hard each week and are a joy to have on our team. I will not be here this week, but Jazzmine and Chris will be helping lead the worship and of course Mike will be faithful as he always is doing our prelude, providing great fills on the keys and helping our choir learn their parts. Again, if you have any musical talent, we’d love to get you in the rotation and get you having as much fun as we do leading worship together.

Finally, our choir are often there every week as well. We’d love that have you join and sing to have a fuller sound even when people have to miss for being sick or having trips. We have lots of fun together and would love to see you use your gifts in worship. As I mentioned, I won’t be there this week, but would love you to talk to me if you’d be willing to serve in any of these areas.

Annual Meeting! January 21, 2024

We are delighted to extend an invitation to our esteemed members for the Annual Meeting scheduled on January 21, immediately following the worship service. This crucial gathering aims to discuss pivotal matters and make collective decisions that will shape the course of our Church’s future. Your attendance is highly valued, as your insights and contributions play a significant role in the decision-making process. The Annual Meeting provides an opportunity for open dialogue, fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility.

We encourage all members to mark their calendars and prioritize this event, as it is not only a moment for reflection on the past year's accomplishments but also a time to chart the course for the upcoming year. How can we continue to support the needs of people in Guatemala? Over the years CCP has sent teams to work with Fundamaya and many members have supported students and seniors through monthly donations. Please come with your ideas, and suggestions on how we can continue to support Fundamaya in 2024.

Happy New Year from Outreach!

The weather has certainly been wintery! So, it’s our pleasure to announce that for our Basket of Hope drive in the months of January and February, Outreach will be benefiting Ladle Fellowship.

We are asking particularly for Men’s items, especially shoes, as well as socks, jackets/coats/sweatshirts, pants/sweatpants, and sleeping bags. Cold weather items are appreciated, as well.

Your generosity last year, as always in the years before, helped to warm the hearts and bodies of so many people who needed that tangible love the most, so in 2024 let’s hit the ground running (Hebrews 12:1-3) and help many more!

Greetings from the Outreach Ministry

The outreach ministry would like to take the time to thank all of our congregation and online congregation for all your generous giving over the holiday season. You have brought joy to so many. Here are just a few of the happy smiles you created!!!

Two photos are of our senior citizens,

One of the photos is part of the adopted family from Solara across the street. Notice that the younger children are not in the photo. We were able to plan delivery for when they were not at home so we could sneak in the bicycle and other gifts.

We received a messages from each recipient with so much joy and gratitude for all we did to make their holidays special.

Also, we would like to thank you so much for your Gifts to the Manger benefiting Interfaith Community services in Escondido. They were overwhelmed with the generosity of our congregation.

Thank you so much again to everyone for being such an amazing part of this ministry at the Community Church Of Poway. You are a blessing to our community and others around the world. We are looking forward to a wonderful new year ahead, and all of the wonderful outreach we can share.

Stay tuned for the message to come from our military family!

With Gratitude from,

The Outreach Ministry
