Raising Awareness for Lung Cancer
November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, and here at Heritage Valley Health System we are working to improve early detection, improve diagnostics, optimize treatment and accelerate recovery by providing our patients with access to the most innovative technologies. The MONARCH® Platform, currently being used by Pulmonologists at our Beaver campus, is a new robotic technology designed to transform the diagnosis of lung disease, with the goal of saving lives. The MONARCH® Platform is designed to allow an accurate diagnosis without incisions from the smallest and hardest-to-reach lung nodules, with the hope of catching lung conditions early.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide, according to the American Cancer Society. Fortunately, lung cancer screening helps detect lung cancer earlier, before symptoms occur, while it is more treatable and possibly cured. Those who should be screened on an annual basis, according to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, include people who have a history of heavy smoking, smoke now or have quit within the past 15 years, and are between the ages of 55 and 80 years.

For more information about the MONARCH® Platform (Robotic Bronchoscopy), lung cancer screening or to schedule an appointment with HVMG Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine, please call 724-773-6403 or 412-749-7160.
Welcoming Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Casey Antholz
We are pleased to welcome board-certified orthopedic surgeon Casey R. Antholz, D.O., who recently joined Heritage Valley Multispecialty Group Orthopedics.  He joins Carolyn P. Engle, M.D., Andrew S. Kaye, M.D., John D. Lehman M.D. and Alexis E. Pilato, M.D. at the practice with locations at 1030 Beaner Hollow Road in Beaver and 273 State Route 288 in Ellwood City. Prior to joining Heritage Valley Health System, Dr. Antholz earned his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, MO. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, NY.

Dr. Antholz has a special interest in minimally invasive approaches to joint replacement surgery, including performing direct anterior total hip replacement surgery, which causes less disruption of tendons and muscles, allowing for a shorter hospital stay and faster recovery with immediate hip stability.

Dr. Antholz’s wife is a Beaver County native, and his family is excited to be back home! He looks forward to providing excellent orthopedic care to Heritage Valley patients for many years to come.

Dr. Antholz is accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment, please call 724-775-4242.
