National Nurses Day

National Nurses Day is celebrated each year on May 6th to raise awareness of the important role that nurses play within the healthcare system. Nurses are on the front lines every day, and are often the first and last person that you see during a hospital visit. Nurses make up the largest percentage of the U.S. healthcare workforce, and work hard to keep their patients healthy and happy!

While Nursing is sometimes thought of as a “behind the scenes” profession, we want to bring recognition of Heritage Valley’s nursing staff to the forefront! We appreciate all that they do, and we couldn’t be prouder of them. So ... to all of our nurses, thank you for providing such wonderful care to our patients!

Live LIFE at Home

(Living Independence for the Elderly)

In partnership with Lutheran SeniorLife, Heritage Valley Health System is proud to offer LIFE Beaver County and LIFE Lawrence County as alternatives to nursing home care. These two programs allow eligible seniors, ages 55 and older, living in Beaver and Lawrence counties to maintain their independence at home with complete access to the medical, social and rehabilitation services they need. LIFE programs are administered through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

LIFE is essentially a one-stop health plan for all medical, social and rehabilitation needs. LIFE Centers provide a single hub for primary care, pharmacy, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, adult day care services, care coordination and social work. The staff also coordinates additional supportive services, such as home health care, transportation, home accessibility modification, recreational programs and home-delivered meals. Based on need, other services such as assistance with bathing, housekeeping, laundry and grocery shopping are also available.

LIFE manages and provides all preventative, primary, acute and long-term care services. Even if a participant requires hospital care, LIFE arranges and monitors the participant’s plan of care. This ability to coordinate the care of each participant enrolled in a LIFE program is key to the model.

For additional information, please click here to visit our website. To schedule a tour of a LIFE Center, please call 724-378-5400 (Beaver) or 724-657-8800 (Lawrence).

Attention Runners and Walkers!

For 21 years, Heritage Valley Health System has been proud to be the Corporate Sponsor of the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department 5K/10K Race, the longest continual and most attended organized race in Beaver County.

The annual race/walk, which will take place on Saturday, June 3, is Beaver County’s premier race event and uses a scenic route through the historic neighborhoods of Beaver. A long stretch of the race course overlooks the majestic Ohio River. In the event of dangerous weather, the race may be delayed, but will still be held.

Intersections will be monitored by police, fire fighters and community volunteers to avoid any problems with cars and race participants. For safety reasons, dogs are not permitted. The 10K race will begin promptly at 8:00 am, followed by the 5K race at 9:00 am. Water and fruit will be provided at the finish line, and an awards ceremony will immediately follow the conclusion of the 5K race.

Shirts are guaranteed with registration through May 12th. (Prices will increase after May 12.) For additional information and to register, please visit https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/Beaver/BFVDRace.

Heritage Valley Beaver Auxiliary Supports Hospital Through its Gift Shop

One of the ways that the Heritage Valley Beaver Auxiliary provides funding for special projects at the hospital is through sales at the Heritage Valley Beaver Gift Shop. The Auxiliary, a dedicated group of volunteers, wants everyone to know that the Gift Shop is open to the public. Conveniently located directly inside the main lobby of Heritage Valley Beaver, the Gift Shop offers unique and affordable gifts for those ages one to 101! There’s even a “jewelry club” that provides incentives and rewards for jewelry purchases.

The Heritage Valley Beaver Gift Shop is open Monday through Friday from 10 am – 6 pm and on Saturdays from 11 am – 2 pm. The Auxiliary appreciates your support!
