We have lost our friend and colleague Patricia (Tisha) de Feliz. In addition to serving on our YMCA Alumni Lyon Chapter Board with Tisha for the last few years, I had the privilege of working with her on the California YMCA Youth and Government Board of Directors. Tisha was a dedicated Y professional who served in Santa Ana and Westchester, before retiring as a senior Vice President from the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles. Tisha loved to travel and the out-of-doors and will be greatly missed by her Lyon Chapter family.

From our president...

We are all saddened this month by the passing of our friend and Board secretary, Patricia (Tisha) de Feliz. Paul has included more details on Tisha below in this newsletter.

Tisha, a faithful servant for our Lyon Chapter, was not just a colleague but a dear friend to many of us. Her spirit and enthusiasm were infectious, and her contributions to our chapter, her family, the YMCA, and her friends, including ourselves, always will be remembered. She and her family continue to be in our prayers.

Her family has requested that donations be made to the National Parks Foundation in lieu of flowers. Our chapter will send a gift in Tisha's memory there, and several of us also will make individual gifts.

In today's Lyon Links you will find information on our next chapter gathering, a backyard BBQ at board member Tim Hardy's home in Santa Barbara. This has been our traditional summer event for several years, and we generally have good attendance.

At the BBQ, it's not just about the food and fun, but also about coming together to remember our dear friend Tisha. I'd love to see some of you who we don't see as often. I know it's a hike for some of us to get to Santa Barbara, but I'm hoping that you'll make the effort to come join us. I promise it will be worth it.

What is being retired all about if not to seize opportunities like this to gather with old friends and colleagues? Monica and I will be there, and we hope you will as well.

By that time, I hope we southern Californians will have some relief from this infernal summer heat, but if not, I guarantee that the weather in Santa Barbara will be better there than it is in Los Angeles/Orange Counties. More details and directions follow below.

Please continue to enjoy the season.

Bob Warnock, Lyon Chapter President

Come to Tim and Pat Hardy's home, 587 Calle Anzuelo, Santa Barbara 93111, on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 11 to 3, for some good food and fellowship.

OK, OK it's only September and Christmas is several months away. Just don't tell that to Walmart.

If it's OK for them to sell plastic trees now, it's OK for us to remind you to put our annual Lyon Chapter Christmas Party in your calendar.

Plan to join us Dec. 7 -- as always -- at Majares Mexican Restaurant in Pasadena.

Cruise what’s known as one of the most beautiful places on earth – Norway and its stunningly beautiful fjords aboard the Emerald Princess during the Summer Solstice, June 17-July 3, 2025. Or, visit the gorgeous Canadian Rocky Mountains, 2025 Sept. 14-24 at the most beautiful time of the year.

Watch for the Sept. 15 edition of GOING PLACES, the YMCA Alumni Travel Club newsletter in your e-mailbox. We will be announcing a brand new trip for October 2025 as well as four brand new trips for 2006.

Want a more local review? Check in with Phyllis and Jim Murphy who have been on two YMCA Alumni Travel Club trips in the last few years.
