A Day of Mixed Messages

Church News

The Easter Triduum, or Great Three Days, are the three days of the Easter cycle: beginning on the evening of Maundy Thursday and extending into Easter morning. The Church treats these three days as one large service, bound together in one story. You will notice that we leave in silence with no dismissals in our worship services on Thursday and Friday for this reason!

Flowers for the Cross

Remember to bring flowers to add to our cross on the front lawn on Easter Sunday. The butterflies will love it and it makes a great backdrop for family pictures!

Join us at the Prayer Labyrinth

Over the course of the Easter Triduum this year, we invite you to visit Isle of Hope's Prayer Labyrinth for a time of intentional prayer. Beginning Maundy Thursday, Guided Prayer Meditations may be found at the entrance to the Prayer Labyrinth. These meditations will be specific for each day of the Easter Triduum. We hope this experience deepens your connection with God as we prepare for the joy of Easter morning.

An Update from Your Committees

Staff Update

Staff-Parish Relations wishes to inform the congregation that Marla Williamson has resigned, effective March 29th. We all wish her success in this new venture and are grateful for the knowledge and expertise she has provided us during her time as Facilities Manager. We look forward to keep seeing her on Sundays, ringing handbells and worshipping with us.

Tree Removal

Following extensive consultations with qualified arborists to explore all possibilities, including bracing the tree, the Trustees determined that the removal of the large, decaying oak tree between the playground and our Sanctuary was necessary.

A fully licensed and insured, ISA Certified Arborist, was able to safely remove the tree without incident on Monday.

Children's Ministry

Resurrection Eggs

Cartons of Resurrection Eggs are available outside the Children’s Ministry Office with an accompanying booklet. These eggs help tell the story of Holy Week to guide you in preparing for Easter- beginning This Sunday with the story of what happened to Jesus and His disciples. Inside each egg is a symbol to remind you of a part of the story every day. We hope it will enhance your understanding of God’s love for us through His Son Jesus Christ.

Pretzel Saturday will be held outside on Saturday. We will all make pretzels, hear the story of how pretzels came to be, play games, make crafts, and the Easter Bunny is signed up to hop by and take pictures with all our wonderful children. And then …… most important of all, we will hunt for Easter eggs! Over 600 Easter eggs have been prepared and children will be able to hunt by age groups.

Be sure to bring your basket and a $2.00 donation to help pay for the candy. After you have found the eggs, we will come back to the parking lot and your yummy pretzels will be hot out of the oven!

We could use a few more volunteers if anyone is interested. Call Beth Parr.

Children Participation for Palm Sunday

March 24, 2024 @ 9:15 AM

Traditional & Anchor Services

This week on Palm Sunday, our Hope Children’s Choir will be processing and waving palms. Any other children who would like to wave palms and come down the outside aisles in the Traditional service can meet Mrs. Beth and the rest of the children on the steps of the church at 8:45. After the prelude is over, you can return to sit with your parents until the Children’s Message.

For children in the Anchor Service who are not singing but would like to wave palm branches, meet Mrs. Beth in the hall by the kitchen after the first two songs! You can return to sit with your parents when the choir moves to the stage. If you need more information, give Beth a call, 912-663-7466 or email her at bparr@iohumc.com

40-Day Photo Challenge

We want to invite everyone to join our Lenten Photo-a-Day challenge. Each day, we will post a word on our social media pages for your consideration. Throughout the day, see how the word inspires you or shows up in your life. Share your thoughts by posting a picture. No explanation is needed in your post - after all, a picture is worth a thousand words!

So make it a daily practice of checking for the word, and tag us on your own Instagram or Facebook, with @iohumc and #iohlent. Make sure to do both of those things so we can find all your awesome pictures.
