Ash Wednesday Service

Tonight at 6:30 PM

The Imposition of Ashes will be offered in the Sanctuary.

Ash Wednesday emphasizes a duel encounter: we confront our own mortality and confess our sin before God within the community of faith. The use of ashes as a sign of mortality and repentance has a long history in both Jewish and Christian worship, and the Imposition of Ashes is a powerful experiential way of participating in the call to repentance and reconciliation during the season of Lent.

One and Done Choir this Sunday

Come and join the "One and Done" Choir this Sunday, February 18h. Simply come to the choir room at 8:30 a.m. this Sunday to learn a simple and fun anthem that we will then share in Traditional worship -- One and Done!!

Pray with the Staff During Lent

The staff will be gathering in the Sanctuary on Tuesdays during Lent from 9:00 - 9:25 AM for some quiet moments of prayer. You are all invited to join us. Slip in quietly and find a spot to breathe in God's Spirit together. Come as you are.... leave when you must. All are welcome!

40-Day Photo Challenge

We want to invite everyone to join our Lenten Photo-a-Day challenge. Each day, we will post a word on our social media pages for your consideration. Throughout the day, see how the word inspires you or shows up in your life. Share your thoughts by posting a picture. No explanation is needed in your post - after all, a picture is worth a thousand words!

So make it a daily practice of checking for the word, and tag us on your own Instagram or Facebook, with @iohumc and #iohlent. Make sure to do both of those things so we can find all your awesome pictures!

February 14th's word is: Covenant

Church-Wide Lenten Study

Beginning February18th at 10:30 AM

Join one of our adult Sunday School classes during Lent for, “The Third Day: Living the Resurrection” by Tom Berlin. In this study, Bishop Berlin uses his gifts of storytelling and understanding the Scriptures to connect participants to the experiences of several individuals around Jesus in his final days, focusing on new life and redemption rather than loss. Join Peter, Mary Magdalene, and Thomas as they feel the despair of losing Jesus and the surprise and joy that awaits them in the resurrection. This study traces events around these characters, along with Paul and the disciples at Emmaus, and how the resurrection transforms their lives.

Tom Berlin was elected a Bishop of The United Methodist Church in 2022 by the Southeastern Jurisdiction and currently serves as the episcopal leader of the Florida Annual Conference. He is a native of Winchester, Virginia, and is a graduate of Virginia Tech and Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

For more information about this study, contact Rev. Meg Procopio or Rev. Jared Wilson.
