This Sunday's Communion Offering

Founded in 1872, The Methodist Home provides care for children and families in need across South Georgia, including a continuum of residential care children’s homes, community foster homes, specialized treatment programs, and counseling services to better serve our community. Our Traditional service congregation was fortunate to hear from Alison Evans, the President/ CEO, who preached in worship at IOHUMC last month. Our communion offering in both services this Sunday will support the incredible work of The Methodist Home for Children, so please give generously.

Our July Adult Education Series Begins

This Sunday, we welcome The Rev. Barbara Day Miller, who went to Candler in 1997, and served as Associate Dean of Worship and Music, overseeing the planning, coordination, and facilitation of Candler’s worship and ceremonial life.

Day Miller’s interests include congregational planning and participation in worship, creative worship and the arts, and global hymns and songs. She is the author of “Encounters with the Holy: A Conversational Model for Worship Planning” (Alban Institute, 2010), and “The New Pastor’s Guide to Leading Worship” (Abingdon Press, 2005).

All adults are invited to the Ministry Center at 10:15am each Sunday in July for food, fellowship, and fun learning as we travel through July together.

Backpacks for our Neighbors

School starts for SCCPS students August 1st, and many parents struggle to pay for school supplies for their children. Legacy Circle and the Missions Committee are working together to provide 50 backpacks filled with school supplies for elementary students in the Edgemere-Sackville neighborhoods.

If you would like to help, visit the “School Supplies for IOHUMC” registry at Walmart.com or click here. Deadline to donate is Sunday, July 14. Thanks so much!

Vacation Bible School

Thank You!

We had a wonderful week at Camp Firelight this week learning about trusting God. Our theme verse was, “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in you.” Psalm 56:3. We enjoyed Bible stories enacted by a great drama team. We danced and sang music that helped us remember the truth of trusting in God. We made crafts, played outside, ate yummy snacks, and made new friends!

Our boys and girls were in a very tight competition to raise money for Second Harvest Food Bank, and their generosity resulted in almost $1,200.00 for this vital organization in our community. Well done! None of the fun or success would have been possible without this group of tremendous volunteers listed below. If you see them, please thank them for nurturing our children! I love that you loved our children last week!

Ignite Student Ministries

No Cross Training tonight due to the long holiday weekend.

Sunday, July 7th - Breakfast Club will be meeting at 10:30am. Bo is back and ready to make a delicious treat for us. Our devotional this week is about pursuing God's plan for our lives.

Next week, Cross Training will be on Monday, July 8th from 5-7pm due to River of Life Mission Trip. We will be talking about how to ensure we are continuing our focus on building relationships and not becoming "lazy" because it's summer. Our memory verse for this week is Galatians 6:9 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

From Wednesday, July 10th through Sunday, July 14th, many of our high schoolers will be at Tifton First UMC with Andrew, Brooke, Peyton, and hundreds of other students and adults for the River of Life Mission Project. Please pray for them and the community they will be serving - that God will bless them to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
