FEMA has changed some of the medical guidance for CERT members over the last few years. Thank you to the LWR CERT teams who have met and started their training updates this summer. Thank you in advance to the teams that have training update meetings scheduled this month.

We want our members to gain confidence to help themselves and their families should they find the need. Given the large number of strong storms forecast this year, we want our members to be ready.

Join us in Infield Box 1 behind home plate at the Blue Jays at Bradenton Marauders baseball game on August 16.

We'll be cheering on LWR CERT Basic Training graduate Jeremy, the first CERT graduate in the US with Down syndrome, as he throws out the first pitch as part of the Special Needs Community Celebration night.

LWR CERT teams across Lakewood Ranch are preparing for hurricane season by holding Team Meetings which include refreshing and updating emergency first aid skills.

After receiving updated guidance from instructor Pat Knowles, Anna Albano (left) and Elaine Williamson practice applying a tourniquet during the recent Team 16 meeting. Phil Westerman is the Team Captain for Team 16. Other teams holding meetings in July include Team 25 (Team Captain Dave Cashbaugh) and Team 31 (Team Captain Mike Modisett).

After time with moulage artists on July 20, LWR CERT members (from left) Phil Westerman, Dave Cashbaugh and Paulette Kessler-Westerman assumed roles as victims for a simulated mass casualty incident exercise conducted by the Duette Fire Department. Thanks for helping our community neighbors prepare to respond!

Stop The Bleed Event

Indigo CERT will be presenting a “Stop the Bleed” program on August 26 at 6:30 PM. Space is limited to 20 participants. To register and for details, contact Indigo CERT President Linda Gooen at indigocert@gmail.com. 

CERT Basic Training - Trailer Estates - September/October

Trailer Estates CERT is hosting a CERT Basic Training Class scheduled for September 25, 26 and 27 and October 2, 3, and 4. The classes will meet from 10 AM - 2 PM in the Bayshore Gardens Park and Recreation Center, 6919 26th Street W. in Bradenton. CERT Basic Training - River Club - September/October

River Club CERT is hosting a CERT Basic Training Class scheduled for September 28, October 6 and October 12. The entire training will be completed in three Saturday sessions. Contact Sebastian Ilka at riverclubcert@gmail.com for details and registration.
