May 21: Athletic physicals offered for next year's (2018-19) freshman and junior athletes in the Boise School District. This is the Boise School District's annual athletic physical exams for incoming 9th and 11th grade athletes. It is sponsored by the Ada County Medical Society (ACMS).  Cost is $20.00. All proceeds support the athletic training departments at Boise School District high schools. Following are physical exam schedulels for each high school's quadrant area:

  • Boise: 5:00 pm – 5:45 p.m.
  • Borah: 5:45 pm – 6:30 p.m.
  • Timberline: 6:30 pm – 7:15 p.m.
  • Capital: 7:15 pm – 8:30 p.m.

Congratulations 2018 STEP Graduates!: On Tuesday, May 15, 2018 a total of 15 students enrolled in the Boise School District's Student Transition Education Program (STEP) participated in a graduation ceremony held at the Boise Senior Center. S.T.E.P. is a safe place where students and staff treat others with respect, given quality care and feel valued as individuals. Students develop friendships and work hand in hand with the community to gain knowledge and experience. The overall goals are to develop vocational, self-determination, self advocacy and life skills to reach maximum independence. Students are 18-21 years of age and work on the following transition areas: vocational/employment, self-management/home living, personal/social, leisure/recreation and general community functioning.  Students can be referred to the transition program by parents, student and the home school Special Education team. Congratulations to the following 2018 STEP graduates. Best wishes for a bright future!

Athletic Teams Earn State Academic Championships: The Idaho High School Activities Association is pleased to announce the 2018 spring sports Academic State Champions. Students Participate in VEX Robotics Competition: On Friday, May 11, 2018 students from Boise School District junior high schools participated in the VEX Robotics Competition. Teams of students were tasked with designing and building a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more. Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels and culminate at the VEX Robotics World Championship.
Turtles Fly Too Offers Unique Educational Experience at Timberline High School: A group of Timberline High School students recently got an opportunity to see local veterinarian Rick Shackleford dissect a Kemp's Ridley Turtle which died in the cold. It's the smallest and most endangered species of sea turtle in the world. The procedure, known as a necropsy, was made possible by a non-profit called Turtles Fly Too, which has a mission to save sea turtles, many of which are threatened or endangered on the brink of extinction. Boise School District Announces Change in Locations for 2018 Summer School Programs: Due to summer road construction and District facility upgrades, the following Boise School District Summer School programs will be relocated:  

  • Traditional Secondary Summer School Program (grades 7-12) will move from West Junior High to Riverglen Junior High (6801 N. Gary Ln., Boise). 
  • Alternative Jr. High Summer School Program and Limited English Proficient (LEP) Summer School Program (both programs serve students in grades 7-8) will move from Frank Church High School to Borah High School (6001 W. Cassia St., Boise).

The CETL certification, awarded by the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), signifies that David Roberts and Kimberly Smith each has mastered the knowledge and skills needed to bring 21st century technology to our K-12 school systems.
