4-H

Happy August! Fair time starts next week, and our office is excited to conclude summer by celebrating your hard work this year at the 2023 Summit County Fair. We had a record number of 4-H campers this year, and all of us at Summit County 4-H have thoroughly enjoyed spending the summer with the best 4-H youth in the state! Please read this entire newsletter, as it has information about the Jr. Livestock Show and Sale, Utah State Fair, 4-H Rabbit Show, and 4-H Home Arts Exhibit entries.

Also, we have some sad news. Our 4-H coordinator Samantha Krieger moved on to a new opportunity in Wyoming. We appreciate her hard work and dedication to our community and youth! She will be missed, but we wish her the best at her new job!

SUMMIT COUNTY FAIR

Summit County Jr. Livestock Association

All information on the Livestock shows and sale can be found on the Summit County Jr. Livestock website.

Schedule

4-H Carcass Contest

After each species showmanship class, there will be an opportunity to gather FREE carcass data through ultrasound. This is voluntary, and participants will receive information about yield grades and quality grades by measuring the ribeye area, back fat thickness, and loin eye area. This data helps youth understand how their animals compare to industry standards. Buckles will be given out for Grand and Reserve in each species.
