Leadership Changes at Milestones

Executive Director and Co-founder

Ilana Hoffer Skoff Steps Down

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Ilana Hoffer Skoff has stepped down as Executive Director of Milestones Autism Resources, due to her health.

While this is not the way we envisioned a leadership transition happening, this is something we have been planning for and making changes to support since 2020, with an agency restructuring and the promotions and additions of several team members.

Milestones is vital to our community and will continue to be a cornerstone in the years to come.

We look forward to our ongoing work together and thank you for the trust you've placed in Milestones and our mission.

"The richness of autism services in Northeast Ohio is due in no small part to Ilana's work over two plus decades." - Mia Buchwald Gelles Milestones Co-founder & Operations Director

June 18th is Autistic Pride Day!

Autistic Pride Day was first established in 2005 by autistic advocates as a day of pride for autistic individuals modeled after the gay pride movement. According to Kabie Brook, the co-founder of Autism Rights Group Highland (ARGH), "The most important thing to note about the day is that it is an autistic community event: it originated from and is still led by autistic people ourselves."

3 ways to celebrate Autistic Pride Day:

  • Display the Neurodiversity Symbol - a spectrum infinity loop, representing the infinite diversity of human neurology.
  • Wear #REDInstead, the color chosen to represent autism by autistic people themselves.
  • Read and promote the writings and works of autistic advocates, such as Cynthia Kim, Mel Baggs, Amy Sequenzia, Ari Ne'eman, Julia Bascom, Emma Zurcher Long, Jim Sinclair, Lydia Brown, Judy Endow, and many more.
