Palmetto Bay's Legislative Agenda Discussed in Tallahassee:
On Tuesday, January 21st and Wednesday the 22nd, Mayor Cunningham, Councilmember Matson and Deputy Manager Cadaval were in Tallahassee where they met with lawmakers representing Palmetto Bay and members of the Florida House Appropriations Committee. They were there seeking funding for items contained in this year’s legislative agenda for the Village. A public meeting is scheduled to discuss the multi-use path and resurfacing of SW 136th Street. District 8 County Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works Staff, along with the Village of Pinecrest and the Village of Palmetto Bay will hold
a public meeting to discuss and view plans
for the planned multi-use path and resurfacing project on SW 136th Street from Old Cutler Road to US-1. WHEN:

DISTRACTED DRIVING ENFORCEMENT CAMPAIGN:
This past Friday morning, January 24th
,
the Village of Palmetto Bay Policing Unit, Miami-Dade Police Department and
FDOT South - Miami Area
FDOT District 6
joined forces in a
#putitdown
enforcement operation for the distracted driving campaign at all PB schools geared to educate drivers about the dangers of texting and driving in light of the newly-adopted legislation. We would like to remind all drivers that school zones are a HANDS-FREE ZONE!! 1st offense $129, 2nd offense $179 (within 5 years and 3 points)

It's one of Palmetto Bay's most popular events! This year, Camping in the Park and Movie Night at Coral Reef Park will be held on February 8th and 9th. Guests will enjoy kayaking, fishing, animal exhibits and many other daytime activities. "Toy Story 4" will be shown on the big screen when the sun goes down! $15 per tent.
Pre-registration is a must, space is limited.

The American Legion Marlin Moore Post 133 in Palmetto Bay will be presenting its annual memorial service in honor of four American Armed Forces Chaplains of different faiths – Protestant, Jewish and Catholic who on February 3, 1943 – gave away their life preservers and their chances for survival when their ship, the USS Dorchester was mortally struck. The four chaplains went down together with the ship. You are cordially invited to attend this service which begins at 11 AM on Sunday February 2nd 2020. The legion also serves a breakfast this and every Sunday from 8 AM to 11 AM for $7.00
