Another shipment arrived last week that included Carolina and Confederate jasmine, 'August Beauty' gardenias, cast iron plants, hardy creeping fig, 'Amethyst Falls' (a non-invasive wisteria), and more. Now is a great time to purchase and plant shrubs, hardy vines, and perennials.
But, for all of you who traditionally begin your spring bedding plantings on Good Friday, be aware that Easter is
very early this year, and it does
not coincide with our l
ast average frost date, which is the
middle of April. So, wait before planting tender greenhouse grown transplants of begonias, impatiens, and other heat lovers until
after that date.
It
is time to pre-emerge your grass to control weed seeds that will germinate with warmer weather, and, if you haven't pruned your roses, look
