Hello March...and Hello Spring!
crocuses_in_spring.jpg
Spring officially arrives for those of us in the northern hemisphere on March 20th. While we patiently wait for warmer and longer days, we are busy preparing for another great season at the nursery.

We are planting, planting, and of course planting! We are also lining up Workshops, Annual Events & we have several 'save the dates' ready for you here. It is projected to be another busy year for garden centers with everyone continuing to enhance their homes and landscapes so plan to come in early and often to get what you need for yours.

Current Hours:
Monday-Friday 9-4 Saturday 10-4
What's happening this month at PLN?
It is indeed time...

Seeds need time. Time to sprout, time to grow, and time to strengthen. Here on the front range where the growing season is somewhat short, many seeds do best planted inside long before planting outside is conducive. This is usually mid May and after the season's last frost.

To make seeding easy for you, we are hosting a get together Sat March 4th at 12pm. Here you will receive everything you need to plant 36 herb and veggie plants! Reserve your spot TODAY!

We Are Looking For Great People
We receive many requests from our clients to hire their friends and family throughout the year. Since we are actively hiring now, we'd like to ask you to send anyone you feel would make an excellent addition to our team our way. Job postings are here on our website.
Now Accepting Your Containers
Hopefully you know that we offer Custom Container Planting Services for homes and businesses alike. This flexible offering is available as a 'one-and-done' or as a 'year 'round' service.

This is how it works: We work with you to design your outdoor pots. Then we plant them for you according to the plan and you enjoy living works of art all season long. Check out the full service here.

We are now accepting container drop offs. You can drop off your outdoor containers so we can design, plant, and care for them in our greenhouses until they're available for pick up as soon as the weather allows. Email here for more information.

The Greenhouses Are Alive!
What makes our plantings so unique?

We are an independently owned nursery and we exercise that independence by mixing plants from different growers. This allows us to try some different plantings such as those found in our mixed succulent containers and our lush & 'nearly famous' hanging baskets. This gives our plantings a little different look and one that has created quite a following over the years. We don't dismiss the tried and true either. Every spring we plant thousands of geraniums and all the other 'common' types as well!

If you need a break from winter or if you have serious spring fever, we are open Monday-Saturday so you can visit the baby plants in our greenhouses.

General Landscaping
  • Continue to Winter Water!!!! Some trees, specifically maples, start moving sap in early spring and without adequate water they can suffer from tip dieback.
  • If we have heavy snows make sure to gently knock off snow from below to prevent branch breakage.
  • Fertilization of lawns (March-June) is a highly recommended.
  • If you've had fire blight issues on your trees, now is the time to spray copper fungicide before the trees bloom.
Shrubs, Perennials & Bulbs
  • Cut back perennials and continue flowerbed cleanup.
  • Spring-flowering bulbs will be popping up soon. Enjoy the show!
Veggies & Herbs
  • Late March is the time to start cool season veggies outdoors. (Examples: Peas, Broccoli, Radishes, Beets, Kohlrabi, etc...).
  • Top dress your beds with compost/organic matter and lightly turn the soil.
